They all seem to have forgotten that she was married three episodes earlier, in “Here Come the Brides“, and took her husband’s last name. Ketty Lester, who later went on to portray Hester Sue Terhoun in Seasons Five through Nine, plays Joe Kagan’s wife in the first scene of this episode. Dark shadows make her face difficult to see, but anyone who watches the show regularly will instantly recognize her voice. Normally a very sweet and mild-tempered man, Nels shocks audiences by actually yelling at Laura and Andy – something he never does in any other episode with any children other than those in his own family! It’s very surprising to watch Nels furiously shoo Laura and Andy out of the store, then yell at them again later, when they attack Mrs. Oleson in the middle of the night.

Mr. Ingalls is severely delayed when a wheel breaks on his wagon in the pouring rain. This is the day of Charles and Caroline's wedding anniversary. Bobbie takes Anna back with him, while her father chooses to stay alone in the woods. Anna is reunited with her baby, telling Laura she will keep the name Grace. Laura feels the first stirrings of attraction to a boy named Jimmy Hill (Chris Petersen) with whom she has previously enjoyed playing baseball and going fishing, but he does not respond in the same way. When a new girl arrives in school who looks like a rival, Laura decides she must compete for him by giving up her 'tom-boy' behaviour and becoming more like Nellie. When Laura's new strategy does not work, her Ma persuades her that she should be true to her real self.
She said the was surprised by "the kindness and stories from fans." David Friedman, 53, played Jason Carter, and stopped acting after childhood. Jonathan Kovacs, 54, said he was happy to meet so many fans. His son served as an ASL interpreter as he greeted fans. The twins, 43, both played Rose Wilder. When Laura and Andy get ready to leave, they hear some clucking. They go to the shed, and Laura realizes that it’s Mathilda, her mother’s best laying hen. If you look closely and if you know the difference between hens and roosters, you can see that is not a hen, but a rooster. LSU turns to Garrett Nussmeier after Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels headed to the NFL. Nussmeier has played in 18 games over the past two seasons and was impressive in his last start, winning MVP honors in a bowl win over Wisconsin after Daniels opted out. Florida got Graham Mertz back for a sixth college season.

Chris stays with the Ingalls family and unwittingly becomes head of the household in Charles' absence, prompting Carrie to mistakenly call the man "Uncle Chris". Mary soon becomes convinced that her Ma and Chris are becoming romantically involved, and she freely expresses her opinions. Nellie and Mrs. Oleson don't help matters when they share Mary's suspicions. Eventually, Mary confronts Chris with her suspicions and tells him he must leave, only to find out later it was a misunderstanding. Charles later returns and finishes the new kitchen.

This scene was probably filmed on a very hot day, as it sounds the way any meadow sounds at high noon in mid-summer. Carrie is officially attending school in Walnut Grove with her sisters. This is the first and only season where the three original Ingalls daughters — Mary, Laura, and Carrie go to school together. Alabama reclaimed left tackle Kadyn Procter, who had left for Iowa after last season.
In one of the novels, Laura writes that her mother asked her father what was the best birthday present he ever got, to which Charles replies “Mary.” Mary was born on Charles’ 29th birthday. In the scene where Mrs. Oleson falls off the horse, Katherine McGregor got injured and was taken to the hospital. Ruth Foster (who was her double on the series) took her place for the rest of the day. Joe Kagan who looks extremely different from the healthy, vibrant, and happy man that we see in Season 5, where he helped out at the blind school and tried to woo Hester Sue Terhoun.
Adam Simms and his son Luke move into town. Adam falls in love with Miss Beadle, while Luke and Nellie Oleson fall for each other. After Miss Beadle talks to Nellie about love and marriage, Nellie and Luke decide to get married. Charles’ birthday is coming up, but there is no mention of Mary’s birthday coming up.
Stewart, 83, brought her tiny 15-year-old dog, who was a hit among fans. She also sold lemon verbena perfume, like she was known for wearing on the show. Ingalls family, and finally gets the opportunity to go to school. The reaction of bigoted Mrs. Oleson (Katherine MacGregor) is a treat when Charles tells her that Solomon is his son from a previous marriage….Every few minutes your heart is pulled in another direction. This is technically a two-part episode where there is a drought and Almanzo Wilder (Dean Butler) loses his crop and the land.
Charles and Albert return to Walnut Grove after Albert has repeated run-ins with the law for curfew violations and theft. It’s soon discovered that Albert is hooked on morphine, which increasingly causes him to become violent, and eventually leads Charles to take drastic measures to help his son withdraw from the drug. "#LittleHouseOnThePrairie has a new home starting tomorrow!" reads the caption of the post.
Ellin believes it’s also where you get first examples of how kind, tough, and hard-working the family was. Eventually, Charles, while on a business trip to Sleepy Eye, discovers the truth about Danforth’s method. He performs a hustle from town to town, with the same three people in the audience pretending to need saving. Charles shows up at one of Danforth’s church services and reveals the truth.
Things get worse when Laura sets some traps to catch the culprit, but winds up catching Charles instead (at one point, causing him to be doused with green paint). Eventually, it is discovered that a boy named Timothy Ferrel was the burglar all along, stealing to support himself and his ill father. Nels' brother sends his 12-year-old son to Walnut Grove after repeated conflicts at home and school. When Mrs. Oleson interferes in her husband's plans to rehabilitate his nephew, Nels asks Charles to step in and teach the boy some values. Mrs. Olesen may finally get to drive those ""homely"" Ingalls from Walnut Grove for good when the family gets an inheritance from a wealthy relative.
Before she leaves, he says a key line that serves as the title of this episode. Meanwhile, Charles and Caroline have had another problem as the whole of the township of Walnut Grove is threatened by an escalation of the dispute between The Grange and the railroads. When the school had closed for the summer with no plans to reopen that fall, the teacher, Mrs. Beadle-Simms, and her husband make the decision to leave Walnut Grove.
